Presented as part of St. Patrick's Festival to mark the first decade of PhotoIreland, The Library Project brings together 100 Views of Contemporary Ireland, a collection of photographs by 100 contemporary photographers from Ireland.

Running 12-29 March at this Temple Bar location, visitors will discover a different Ireland through the incisive, playful and poignant work of these artists. Fri 11-6pm, Sat and Sun 12-6pm, Closed Mondays and Bank Holidays.

Gathered in this guise, the images aim to represent the complexities and charm of a growingly diverse country that has changed beyond recognition in the last decades. One that, having achieved outstanding social and political milestones, reflects on present challenges and aspires to an ideal future.

The exhibition celebrates a discipline that has also undergone its own radical transformation in the last few years; it highlights the growing number of artists providing us with excellent work and it underlines the role of PhotoIreland in contributing to a healthy ecosystem in Photography.

About The Library Project

The Library Project is a venue run by the PhotoIreland since September 2013 at its present address. Far more than an Art bookshop, a specialised photobook library, and a gallery, The Library Project is a cultural hub, multidisciplinary in its approach, and focused on Photography. The space offers visitors an open door to discover local and international contemporary Art practices through a careful selection of publications, and a variety of exhibitions and events.

PhotoIreland is dedicated to stimulating a critical dialogue around Photography in Ireland, and to promote internationally the work of Irish-based artists. We ensure that a healthy ecosystem of practices is not silenced by lack of opportunities by offering frequent publishing and exhibiting opportunities to emerging artists.

In 2010, we launched Ireland’s first international festival of Photography & Image Culture: PhotoIreland Festival, running its 9th edition this year. Our work continues outside the festival period with a varied programme that includes events and programmes like the Critical Academy, publishing projects like TLP Editions and the triennial project promoting Irish talent – New Irish Works, Greetings From Ireland, events like HALFTONE, the residency How to Flatten a Mountain, and OVER journal, to name a few.

PhotoIreland does not receive support from the Arts Council of Ireland or any other public body for its yearly programme of activities at The Library Project or elsewhere. PhotoIreland Festival receives Arts Council and Dublin City Council support, and is the only Irish member of the EU co-funded platforms Parallel and Futures.
